An eco-tour is being planned by singer Billie Eilish
Singer Billie Eilish is trying to make her upcoming world tour “as green as possible”.
The 17-year-old explained she has partnered with non-profit organisation Reverb for her recently-announced “Where Do We Go?” world tour, which is due to start next March.
“We’re actually bringing someone from Reverb, this company that basically specialises in the best and most healthy and green ways to do everything,” she told US talk show host Jimmy Fallon.
“So there’s no plastic straws allowed, the fans are going to bring their own water bottles, there’s going to be recycle cans everywhere, because it’s like, if something’s recyclable, it doesn’t matter unless there’s a recycle bin.”
Every venue that Eilish performs at on her world tour will feature a “Billie Eilish Eco-Village”, a place where fans can learn more about climate change and becoming more environmentally conscious.
The Don’t Smile At Me singer also appeared as a musical guest on the season premiere of Saturday Night Live, which was hosted by actor Woody Harrelson.
Before her performance, Eilish shared a video on Instagram in which she and Harrelson spoke about the detrimental impact of climate change and highlighted the work of environmental organisations including Greenpeace and Fridays For Future.
“Our Earth is warming up and our oceans are rising. Extreme weather is wrecking millions of lives,” the musician said in the film.
Harrelson, who has been an environmental activist for several years, added that the world is facing a “climate emergency”.
“From California to the Amazon our forests are burning,” the Zombieland star said.
“History shows us that when enough people rise up and demand change, those in power have no choice but to act.”
